إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ ﴿١﴾
در آن هنگام که خورشید در هم پیچیده شود،
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ ﴿٢﴾
و در آن هنگام که ستارگان بی‌فروغ شوند،
وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ ﴿٣﴾
و در آن هنگام که کوه‌ها به حرکت درآیند،
وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ ﴿٤﴾
و در آن هنگام که باارزش‌ترین اموال به دست فراموشی سپرده شود،
وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ ﴿٥﴾
و در آن هنگام که وحوش جمع شوند،
وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ ﴿٦﴾
و در آن هنگام که دریاها برافروخته شوند،
وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ ﴿٧﴾
و در آن هنگام که هر کس با همسان خود قرین گردد،
وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ ﴿٨﴾
و در آن هنگام که از دختران زنده به گور شده سؤال شود:
بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍۢ قُتِلَتْ ﴿٩﴾
به کدامین گناه کشته شدند؟!
وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ ﴿١٠﴾
و در آن هنگام که نامه‌های اعمال گشوده شود،
وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ ﴿١١﴾
و در آن هنگام که پرده از روی آسمان برگرفته شود،
وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ ﴿١٢﴾
و در آن هنگام که دوزخ شعله‌ور گردد،
وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ ﴿١٣﴾
و در آن هنگام که بهشت نزدیک شود،
عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌۭ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ ﴿١٤﴾
(آری در آن هنگام) هر کس می‌داند چه چیزی را آماده کرده است!
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ ﴿١٥﴾
سوگند به ستارگانی که بازمی‌گردند،
ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ ﴿١٦﴾
حرکت می‌کنند و از دیده‌ها پنهان می‌شوند،
وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ ﴿١٧﴾
و قسم به شب، هنگامی که پشت کند و به آخر رسد،
وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ ﴿١٨﴾
و به صبح، هنگامی که تنفّس کند،
إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍۢ كَرِيمٍۢ ﴿١٩﴾
که این (قرآن) کلام فرستاده بزرگواری است [= جبرئیل امین]
ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍۢ ﴿٢٠﴾
که صاحب قدرت است و نزد (خداوند) صاحب عرش، مقام والائی دارد!
مُّطَاعٍۢ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍۢ ﴿٢١﴾
در آسمانها مورد اطاعت (فرشتگان) و امین است!
وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍۢ ﴿٢٢﴾
و مصاحب شما [= پیامبر] دیوانه نیست!
وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ ﴿٢٣﴾
او (جبرئیل) را در اُفق روشن دیده است!
وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍۢ ﴿٢٤﴾
و او نسبت به آنچه از طریق وحی دریافت داشته بخل ندارد!
