Surah Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Aya count 11

ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ﴿١﴾

De slag.

مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ﴿٢﴾

Wat is de slag?

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ﴿٣﴾

En wat zal u doen begrijpen, hoe vreeselijk de slag zal wezen?

يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ ﴿٤﴾

Op dien dag zullen de menschen als kapellen verspreid zijn,

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ ﴿٥﴾

En de bergen zullen als gekamde wol van verschillende kleuren worden, die door den wind is voortgedreven;

فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ﴿٦﴾

Maar hij, wiens weegschaal met goede werken zal bezwaard wezen,

فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍۢ رَّاضِيَةٍۢ ﴿٧﴾

Zal een behagelijk leven leiden.

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ﴿٨﴾

Doch hij wiens weegschaal licht zal zijn,

فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌۭ ﴿٩﴾

Diens woning zal de kuil der hel wezen.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ ﴿١٠﴾

Wat zal u doen begrijpen, hoe vreeselijk de kuil der hel is?

نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۢ ﴿١١﴾

Het is een brandend vuur.
