أَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى يُكَذِّبُ بِٱلدِّينِ ﴿١﴾
Wat dunkt u van hem, die het toekomstige oordeel als eene valschheid loochent?
فَذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يَدُعُّ ٱلْيَتِيمَ ﴿٢﴾
Het is degeen, die den wees verstoot.
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلْمِسْكِينِ ﴿٣﴾
En anderen niet aanspoort den arme te voeden.
فَوَيْلٌۭ لِّلْمُصَلِّينَ ﴿٤﴾
Wee over hen, die bidden,
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَن صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُونَ ﴿٥﴾
Maar die achteloos in hun gebed zijn;
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ يُرَآءُونَ ﴿٦﴾
Die de huichelaars spelen.
وَيَمْنَعُونَ ٱلْمَاعُونَ ﴿٧﴾
En (den behoeftige) de noodige aalmoes (gereedschappen) onthouden.
