Surah Al-Qari'ah ( The Striking Hour ) - Aya count 11

ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ﴿١﴾

[EN DAG skall ni höra] det dundrande slaget!

مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ﴿٢﴾

Vad betyder det dundrande slaget

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ ﴿٣﴾

Vad kan låta dig förstå vad detta dundrande slag betyder

يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ ﴿٤﴾

[Det skall dåna] en Dag då människorna myllrar och svärmar som mott och mal,

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ ﴿٥﴾

och då bergen [förvandlas] till högar av kardad ull.

فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ﴿٦﴾

Då skall den vars vågskål [med goda handlingar] väger tungt

فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍۢ رَّاضِيَةٍۢ ﴿٧﴾

gå till ett liv i lycksalighet,

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ﴿٨﴾

men den vars vågskål väger lätt

فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌۭ ﴿٩﴾

skall se sig innesluten i en avgrund.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ ﴿١٠﴾

Och vad kan låta dig förstå vad denna [avgrund] betyder

نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۢ ﴿١١﴾

En [famn av] het eld!
